Join the York County Economic Alliance and partners for “Why York? How to Build a Sustainable Workforce, A Forum for Employers” on Tuesday, September 17 at Wyndham Garden York, 2000 Loucks Rd, York, PA. Details & registration available here.
 
Presented by Wolfgang Confectioners, employers and hiring managers are invited for three informational sessions including a Keynote Presentation from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia during this half-day forum. Attendees will also be able to network with workforce partners and connect to resources that are committed to fueling the engines of prosperity in York County and the Region. 
 
Program Agenda: 

  • 7:30am: Registration & networking breakfast begin
  • 8:00am: Welcome and Session one: Building Inclusive Workforces
    • Featuring presentations by employers including Wolfgang Confectioners, a Community Reentry Parole Agent from the Department of Corrections, and the Next Step Coordinator from the York Literacy Institute. 
  • 9:15 am: Session two: Barriers to Economic Mobility
    • Presentation and discussion with Katie Caples, ECHO Director at Community Connections for Children, who will discuss the new teacher aid program that ECHO is launching. Joining her will be Natalie Dragan, Assistant Education Manager with Community Progress Council, who has overseen the teacher aide program development, recruitment, and implementation.
  • 10:30am: Keynote Session: Quality Jobs: Workers’ Perspectives and Labor Market Disparity
    • From the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Theresa Dunne, Community Development Research Analyst and Ashley Putnam, Director of Economic Growth and Mobility Project, will be sharing findings from the Worker Voices Project on how noncollege workers and job seekers described a quality job in focus group sessions during the economic recovery period following the pandemic. They’ll also feature recent research on labor market disparities that explores the occupational representation of workers in the US labor market and in the training that participants in the public workforce system pursue.
  • 11:30am: Networking
 
Join us for networking with the speakers and mingling with local organizations at their tables. These organizations include Community Progress Council, York County Community Foundation, United Way of York County, ECHO and Community Connections for Children, York Literacy Institute and more.
