Symphony Story Time Coming to Libraries February 18 - 20

York County Libraries and the York Symphony Orchestra have partnered to create a musical story time experience for area children and their families. The new Symphony Story Time series will be held at six library locationsfrom February 18 - 20. Musicians will enhance the telling of Dan Brown’s “Wild Symphony” by adding sound to story excerpts and multiple animals throughout the book. There is no cost to attend.

Symphony Story Time truly combines the best of YCL’s literacy-forward story times with music’s almost magical ability to support both learning and imagination,” says York County Libraries Youth Services Director Mindy McDonnell. “We are absolutely delighted to partner with the York Symphony Orchestra to bring this special program to the families of York County.”

Families are invited to attend Symphony Story Time at any of the following library locations. Symphony Story Time will be held on Tuesday, February 18 at 10:15 a.m. at Guthrie Memorial Library in Hanover, and at 1:30 p.m. at Kreutz Creek Library in Hellam. On Wednesday, February 19, the program starts at 10:30 a.m. at Dover Area Community Library (in the Community Center), and at 1:30 p.m. at Village Library in Jacobus. On Thursday, February 20, Symphony Story Time is set for 10:30 a.m. at Red Land Community Library in Etters, and at 4:00 p.m. at Martin Library in York. Registration is requested by some librariesadditional details are available at events.yorklibraries.org

Libraries are all about igniting new interests and instilling a love of learning,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “We’re excited to provide this opportunity for children to experience live music as part of story time. It will be an immersive experience where they will hear musicians playing instruments they may be seeing for the very first time.”
