SummerQuest Program Starts June 1 at York County Libraries
Early Online Registration Begins May 17

YORK, PA – York County Libraries (YCL) SummerQuest program begins Monday, June 1 at library locations countywide. SummerQuest is YCL’s annual summer program for all ages: kids, teens, and adults. Collectively, YCL’s 13 library locations have planned hundreds of activities surrounding this summer’s "Unearth A Story™” theme for community members to enjoy. Early online registration for the program starts Sunday, May 17 at yorklibraries.org/SummerQuest.

This summer’s featured events include Phredd the Ukelele One Man Band, River Barry Bubble Magician, Clay Dinosaur Eyes Craft, Dino Writing Lab, Happy Birthday America story times, and storybook character Penelope Rex. The first day to pick up SummerQuest packets at library locations is Monday, June 1. SummerQuest runs through Sunday, August 16.

“This year, we are inviting York County residents of all ages to participate in SummerQuest,” says York County Libraries Youth Services Director Mindy McDonnell. “Join us as we spend the summer reading great books, enjoying fun and educational library programs and activities, and completing Get Outdoors (GO) York! hikes at parks throughout the county.  Not only will you have a good time, but you may even win a great prize.”

According to York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert, over 8,600 York Countians participated in SummerQuest in 2025. “We expect this number will continue to climb this summer as families look for interesting summer activities that are budget-friendly and close to home,” says Lambert. “SummerQuest offers an accessible way for community members of all ages to create their own summer adventures. Whether it is escaping into great books, discovering local nature trails, or laughing at the silly antics of entertainers, the library has something for everyone.”

This year’s SummerQuest program is made possible thanks to the generous support of Capital Blue Cross, C&N, First National Bank, Graham Capital Company, Kinsley Construction, Kinsley Steel, M&T Bank, Traditions Bank a Division of ACNB Bank, Univest Financial, Walton & Company, Waste Management, Weis Markets, and York Precision Machining and Hydraulics. This aids YCL’s delivery of a robust SummerQuest program that inspires students to keep learning during summer vacation and provides literacy opportunities for all.
York County Libraries strengthen the community and enrich individual lives. YCL programs and services help community members build the five core literacies championed by the Pennsylvania Library Association PA Forward® program. Thirteen library locations provide the latest in print and digital information, bestsellers, Wi-Fi, story times, book discussions, and databases.
