Queen Bee Cakery Marks One-Year Anniversary with Community Celebration, Creative Contest, and Sweet Success
Dover, PA — Queen Bee Cakery celebrated its one-year anniversary on March 1, 2026, marking a successful first year since opening its doors at the Shoppes at Newberrytown in 2025 at 700 York Road in Dover. The milestone was commemorated with a month-long celebration throughout February, and  culminating in a lively anniversary event filled with giveaways, sweet samples, and community engagement on March 1.
Throughout the month, the bakery offered free popcorn to visitors as a thank-you to the community that has supported its growth from day one. The anniversary celebration brought together customers, families, and supporters to celebrate a year of sweetness and connection.
Founded by Sherry Welsh, Queen Bee Cakery has experienced a year of intentional growth and evolution, expanding from its startup phase into a more structured and scalable operation. Through investments in commercial equipment, expanded production capacity, and support from partners like the York County Economic Alliance, the bakery has continued to build a strong foundation for long-term success.
“Our first year has been incredible, and it’s all because of the support from our community,” said Welsh. “This celebration was really about saying thank you and sharing that milestone with the people who helped make it possible.”
One of the highlights of the celebration was the “One Sweet Year” Raffle, where Juan Cotto was selected as the winner of a custom “Number 1” celebration cake.
The bakery also hosted a People’s Choice Cake Pop Contest, inviting customers to design a new signature flavor. The winning entry was:
🏆 Katie Force – “The King”
An Elvis Presley-inspired cake pop featuring chocolate cake with peanut butter and banana mix-ins, coated in peanut butter and finished with gold sprinkles.
Katie created the winning flavor alongside her 4-year-old son, who proudly helped bring the idea to life. When they returned to pick up their prize, he arrived dressed as “The King,” creating a memorable moment for everyone involved. With EPIC currently in theaters, the Elvis-inspired creation added a fun and timely cultural connection.
Katie received six of her custom cake pops, and her creation is now featured in the bakery’s display case for a limited time.
👏 Runners-Up:
Each runner-up received a complimentary cake pop.
Guests at the anniversary celebration also enjoyed sample CHocolate Peanut Butter or Fluffernutter cupcakes, giveaways, and time connecting with the bakery team, reinforcing Queen Bee Cakery’s commitment to creating a welcoming, community-centered experience.
As Queen Bee Cakery enters its second year, the focus remains on continued growth, creative offerings, and deepening its connection to the York County community.
