Library Hosts Third Annual Brogue Community Tree Lighting
Festivities Slated December 5

BROGUE, PA – Collinsville Community Library, in partnership with several area organizations, will host the third annual Brogue Community Tree Lighting celebration on Friday, December 5. Festivities start at 5:00 p.m. and conclude with the lighting of the tree at 7:00 p.m. The free event will be held at the Collinsville Community Library at 2632 Delta Road in Brogue.

“The Collinsville Community Library, along with our community partners, is proud to be hosting this event for the 2025 holiday season,” says Collinsville Community Library Manager Jan Vergos. “Every year the event grows in size, and we involve more of the community.  It’s such a great opportunity to come check out the library and accompanying festivities while visiting with your friends and neighbors as you celebrate the holiday season!”

Festivities planned for the evening include:

  • Holiday Shoppe presented by the Clearview Elementary School PTO
  • Live music with Mark DeRose
  • “Corduroy” story time with Clearview Elementary School Reading Specialist Lindsey Howell with an appearance by Corduroy himself
  • Pennsylvania State Police “Meet the Troopers”
  • New Bridgeville Memorial Fire Company Fire Truck
  • Crafts for kids
  • Santa and Mrs. Claus
  • Library card sign-up
  • Silent auction
  • Food trucks
  • Win it in a Minute challenges throughout the evening
  • Third Brogue Community Tree Lighting

“This is such a warm and wonderful event for the entire community,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert.  “This year, children can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, plus meet Corduroy, the loveable storybook bear. It is a delightful evening of stories, music, and family fun.”

According to Vergos, the tree lighting is important in the community, and many folks have inquired and stated that it is now part of their family’s holiday traditions. Library staff and volunteers started planning in the fall and again received enthusiastic support from the library’s friends, volunteers, members, and area residents. Many community partners came on board to bring the festivities to fruition. They include the Chanceford Township Board of Supervisors, Brogue Community Lions Club, Clearview Elementary School PTO, Mason-Dixon Lions Club, and RSI Hardware. In addition, area resident Mike Cunningham is donating this year’s tree. Anyone with questions should contact the library at 717-927-9014 or collinsvillelibrary@yorklibraries.org.
