Martin Library to participate in GivingTuesday
Martin Library in York will participate in this year’s GivingTuesday on December 3, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Also known as National Day of Giving, this global generosity movement harnesses the power of social media to give back around the world. GivingTuesday inspires community members to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity all on the same day.
Givingtuesday.org notes “a better future is built in the billions of small actions we take each day. A kind smile, a helping hand, or an hour of time become part of something much greater. That is the power of radical generosity.” The library is among many organizations who depend on the generosity of their local community to carry out their mission.
“Martin Library is exceptional in its delivery of quality library service,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “The staff is innovative in their design of programs and responsive to the needs of its entire community. Encouraging and empowering lifelong learning is a core part of what they do every day.”
Whether it's a child discovering their favorite book, a job seeker finding the resources they need, or a senior enjoying an event, community support helps make these experiences possible. According to Lambert, Martin Library is a vibrant hub of learning, creativity, and connection. Over the past year, library staff delivered 634 educational programs for children, teens, and adults, and loaned nearly 161,900 items. In addition, the library issued 4,163 library cards to new members and welcomed over 115,000 visitors through its doors.
Every contribution, big or small, writes a story of hope and opportunity for all community members who depend on library services. Individuals interested in donating to the Martin Library or their local library on GivingTuesday or as part of their year-end giving can do so at donate.yorklibraries.org.
