DOWNTOWN INC ANNOUNCES 6TH YEAR OF WELCOMING COMMUNITIES GRANT PROGRAM
The Welcoming Communities Grant program is administered by Downtown Inc and is made possible through the financial support of Better York, The Powder Mill Foundation, the York County Community Foundation, and in partnership with the Cultural Alliance of York County. The goal of the grant program is to identify and provide financial support to sustainable community events that contribute to creating a welcoming and connected community for all in York City through diversity, accessibility, and cultural representation. Grant amounts up to $2,000 will be considered, and the average grant amount is $1,500 or less.
A total of $18,000 in grant funds will be allocated in 2025, with $3,000 earmarked for events in Foundry Plaza, for events taking place from May 1, 2025-May 1,2026 in the City of York. Details on the amenities of Foundry Plaza can be viewed here.
One of the 2024 Welcoming Communities Grant recipients, CreekFire, showcased the power of community connection through music and entertainment. Hosted in Downtown York’s WeCo District, the event brought together people from all over York County to celebrate in an inclusive and engaging atmosphere.
“Thanks to the Welcoming Communities Grant, we were able to enhance our event with music and entertainment, creating a more inclusive and engaging atmosphere for the community,” said Melissa Rosario McGarry, organizer of CreekFire. “The funding allowed us to bring in a group of diverse performers, fostering a rich connection and celebration between people all over York County.”
