Description
Join the York County Economic Alliance for a Virtual Workshop Series to learn more about "Business Retention, Expansion and Recruitment, Working with an Economic Development Agency, and Creating a Trail Friendly Business".
Make sure your business is ready to welcome and serve tail users. Learn tips and techniques to become a destination on the trail. Communities will learn how to retain and recruit business; towns, business owners and entrepreneurs will learn how to maximize opportunity when working with your local economic development organization.
Presented by Kim Stever, Eastwick Solutions, a tourism and trail professional trail; Elaine Bonneau, Director of Downtown York, Inc will share her insights on how to attract new businesses to a downtown, work with established tenants and collaborate with property owners for a thriving commercial district and Silas Chamberlin from York County Economic Alliance, York’s economic development organization.
York County Economic Alliance launched the Trail Town Program® to leverage the York Heritage Rail Trail as a platform and driver for economic development in towns located along or near the popular multi-use trail. The pilot program includes 5 towns: York, Seven Valleys, Glen Rock, Railroad, and New Freedom. The intention is to expand the program as more of the trail is built. The “trail towns” concept was pioneered on the Great Allegheny Passage, where it has generated millions of dollars in local economic impact.
Partnering with the York County Department of Parks, the York County Rail Trail Authority, Explore York, and our municipal partners, the Trail Town Program® is a collaborative process with outreach to local governments, residents and business owners in order for each town to reach its potential as a vibrant hub for trail users. By enhancing each town as a trail user-friendly destination and creating a cohesive Heritage Rail Trail experience, visitors will stay longer and spend more money, it will expand existing businesses and attract new ones.
