Description
The 50th York County CROP Hunger Walk will take place on Sunday October 13, 2019 In 1970 York County held the first ever CROP Hunger Walk. There were over 1,200 walkers who started at Continental Square in York City and walked to Spring Grove. This year marks the 50th York County CROP Walk. Rev. Bill Sowers was the Chair of that first walk and is actively involved in organizing and promoting the 50th Walk. Walkers will start at one one of the 4 locations (north, south, east and west) and walk to the square. The four starting points are St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 947 N. George St., Fourth United Methodist Church, 1067 E. Market St. and St. Paul Lutheran Church, S. George Street and Springettsbury Avenue. 25 percent of the money raised from the York CROP Hunger Walk remains in York County through the York County Food Bank. Seventy-five percent is distributed through Church World Service to combat poverty and hunger nationally and internationally . Walkers and sponsors can pre-register at www.crophungerwalk.org/yorkpa.
