Join the York County Economic Alliance, MANTEC, and the Manufacturers Association for a panel discussion on the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) and how businesses and non-profit organizations can take advantage of the program. The panel will feature an overview of the Employee Retention Credit by Eric Suazo of RKL, with representatives of MANTEC, MASCPA, and YCEA on hand to field questions from businesses.
Many York County businesses have an opportunity to take advantage of immediate tax savings with the ERC, including manufacturers, restaurants, non-profits, and more. If your business was negatively impacted by COVID 19 due total or partial closure or a reduction in gross business receipts, you may be eligible for this significant COVID relief.
The ERC was introduced in the CARES Act, but it was limited in scope and Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) recipients could not participate. The COVID-19 relief legislation passed in December 2020, along with the additional provision outlined in the March 2021 American Rescue Plan Act, extended the ERC for 2021 and expanded eligibility, increased savings, and added a retroactive provision for PPP loan recipients.
The expanded ERC program:
- Has been extended for wages paid through December 31, 2021;
- Increased the per employee maximum to $7,000 per quarter ($28,000 in total for 2021);
- Increased the 2019 average employee count to claim all qualified wages from 100 to 500;
- Lowered the reduction in gross receipt eligibility from 50% to 20% for 2021 and an additional optional quarter-over-quarter comparison. eligibility to include those with at least a 20% reduction in gross receipts;
- And allows businesses to begin reducing their 941 payments in anticipation of their eligibility for 2021 credit.

Tom Palisin, Executive Director of The Manufacturers’ Association
Tom Palisin has served as the executive director of The Manufacturers’ Association since 2014. Prior to his current role, Tom spent 18 years working for the state of Pennsylvania, including nearly a decade with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. He also volunteers with several organizations and serves as a board member for PA Recycling Markets Center and Pennsylvania Free Enterprize Week.
Eric Suazo, Consultant with RKL LLP
Eric Suazo joined RKL in 2020 as consultant with the Human Capital Management practice. He has extensive experience providing outsourced assistance to clients regarding employee relations, benefits administration, and Human Resource systems operations. Prior to joining the RKL team, Eric served as a program associate at the Fund for the City of New York.

She provides strategic planning and directing business initiatives, leading the sales team and positioning the organization in the region.
