Description
Join us at our November Economics Club breakfast for a presentation on Reentry programs and the impact they have on workforce initiatives with Secretary John Wetzel from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.
** Please note that the November Economics Club Breakfast will be held on November 13 - two weeks earlier than usual due to the Thanksgiving holiday. **
Secretary Wetzel was appointed to lead the state's Department of Corrections (DOC) in January 2011. During his tenure as Secretary, the DOC not only saw an end to the 24-year average growth of 1,500 inmates per year, but also the first population reduction in Pennsylvania in over 4 decades.
Secretary Wetzel was also named by the Trump administration to the congressionally-created oversight committee to the federal First Step Act, which focuses on helping inmates prepare for a successful and supported reentry to home.
