York County Food Bank and St. Onge Collaborate on March Madness Inspired Virtual Food Drive

In 2023, St. Onge worked with the York County Food Bank and their virtual food drive platform to create a competitive concept called Dunkin Hunger to energize employees to support the Food Bank’s mission.  St. Onge’s employees responded in force.  Some of them noted that this was “an awesome and rewarding experience”.

With Dunkin Hunger 2024, St. Onge engaged other York County groups to amplify community support of the York County Food Bank and its mission. Over $20,000 was raised for the York County Food Bank.

Now, the 2025 Dunkin Hunger competition is heating up. As an added incentive this year, the first 1,000 entries aged 18 and over who donate $15 or more by March 19 at 9pm will have the chance to enter their own March Madness bracket online for a chance at cash prizes.

“It’s hard to believe that 10% of the folks, adults, kids, and seniors in our community are food insecure.  This friendly competition is an awesome way to engage employees, family, and friends, all for the benefit of the York County Food Bank and those they serve!” said Sean O’Neill, Retired Executive Vice President & Healthcare Practice Lead, St. Onge.

The goal is to engage 64 teams – local businesses, churches, organizations and family groups to set up virtual food drives. The total donations collected per team, from employees, families and friends, will be the team’s score or ranking. This Dunkin Hunger Virtual Food Drive will mirror the March Madness NCAA Basketball Tournament, with prizes distributed to the teams in the Sweet Sixteen, Final Four, and overall Champion.

A sampling of current teams includes Bryn Mawr Trust – Hershey, Central York High School Student Council, Hunger Fighting All Starrs, Our York Media, RBC Wealth Management, Southern York County Facebook, St. John’s Episcopal Church, St. Onge, Veolia, W&S Landscape Services, York Adams Academy, and the York County Food Bank.

“We are incredibly grateful to Sean and the St. Onge team for bringing this idea to us and helping to champion it for the benefit of the York County Food Bank. We are seeing extremely high levels of need in the community, so this Dunkin Hunger initiative comes at a critical time,” according to Jennifer Brillhart, President and CEO of the York County Food Bank.

We need the York Community’s support and help to make this successful.  Please consider entering your team. For more details and to sign up please visithttps://yorkfoodbank.org/dunkin-hunger-registration/
