York College of Pennsylvania Expands Academics with New Majors in

Neuroscience and Leadership for Business and Community

YORK, PA — York College of Pennsylvania is proud to announce the launch of two new

innovative programs. Both are designed to meet the evolving needs of students heading into the

modern workforce: a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership

for Business and Community. These programs reflect the College's commitment to providing

career-focused pathways for professional advancement.

Advancing Scientific Discovery: The Neuroscience Major

The Neuroscience major gives students a foundation in understanding the brain across all

biological levels. The curriculum emphasizes the scientific method through laboratory

experiences and student-led, hands-on projects.

Students in the program will engage in curriculum-based undergraduate research, including a

year-long "Biology Inquiry" course where they design, execute, and interpret their own data.

This hands-on approach prepares graduates for a variety of paths, from technical industry roles

to advanced medical and graduate studies.

"The Neuroscience program gives students the opportunity to study the human brain and

nervous system through an interdisciplinary approach,

” said Dr. Wendy Boehmler, Biology

Department Chair.

“The program provides all Neuroscience students with hands-on

research experiences, alongside a curriculum designed to prepare them for graduate

school, medical school, and careers in industry and research.

"

“Neuroscience is one of the most exciting and rapidly evolving areas in science today,

said Dr. Jessica Fautch, Dean of the Kinsley School of Engineering, Sciences, andTechnology.

“This program gives students the chance to explore how the brain works

while getting hands-on experience in our labs. What makes it special at York College is

that students will graduate with the kind of research experience and problem-solving skills

that truly set them apart for medical school, graduate programs, or careers in the

sciences.

Empowering Working Professionals: Leadership for Business and Community

The Leadership for Business and Community degree is a fully online program designed

specifically for degree completion. It caters to busy working adults and offers a flexible format for

students to balance education with life and work responsibilities.

The curriculum combines business principles with community development, equipping students

with essential skills in public speaking, collaboration, and organizational leadership.

"This program is a great opportunity for someone who wants to advance personally and

professionally,

" said Dr. Molly Sauder, Dean of the Graham School of Business.

"I'm really

excited to support returning learners with a flexible, meaningful path to a bachelor's

degree. This program was developed from feedback from stakeholders about what

exactly was needed for working professionals to accelerate their trajectories, all in a

format that will work while juggling the many responsibilities of life!"

"Many people start college and then, for one reason or another, life intervenes, and they

stop,

" added Dr. Joshua Landau, Dean of the School of the Arts, Humanities, Education,

and Social Sciences.

"This degree provides them with the opportunity to restart their

educational path with an eye on increasing their future earning potential via a flexible

learning environment geared towards adults with busy lives. Importantly, this type of

program allows them to use their prior investment in their education to help them gain a

competitive edge in a challenging job market.

"

York College is now accepting applications for both majors. As the first students in these

programs start their studies, York College is excited to see the positive change these

graduates will bring to our local economy and community for years to come.
