York College and York Catholic Team Up to Expand Access to College-Level Learning

YORK, Pa.

program.

— York College of Pennsylvania and York Catholic High School are partnering to

give students a head start on earning college credits through the College in the High School

Through this agreement, York Catholic students can enroll in college-level courses taught at

their high school that follow York College courses and academic standards. The courses will be

taught by qualified high school instructors approved by York College or by YCP faculty.

The partnership is designed to expand access to higher education and help students transition

smoothly from high school to college.

As part of York College’s ongoing commitment to serving the York County community, Dr. Brian

Hazlett, Vice President for Enrollment Management at York College, said the partnership

reflects the College’s dedication to building pathways for student success.

“Expanding access to higher education is one of the most meaningful ways we can

prepare the next generation for success,

” Hazlett said.

“College in the High School breaks

down financial, logistical, and even psychological barriers that can stand between a

student and their college dreams. When students experience college-level learning in a

familiar environment, they gain confidence, credits, and momentum to thrive once they

step onto a campus.

York Catholic students will be able to earn college credits at a reduced cost while completing

their high school requirements. The courses meet the same academic standards as those

offered on York College’s campus, ensuring that students receive a rigorous, college-level

experience.

York Catholic President Katie Doyle said the program represents an important step in preparing

students for college and beyond."We are thrilled to partner with York College to bring this valuable opportunity to our

students,

" Doyle said.

"By earning college credits in high school, our students have the

opportunity to excel among their peers, including dual enrollment majors, study abroad,

early graduation, and other extension activities during their next chapter after York

Catholic.

"

The York Catholic partnership marks another expansion of York College’s growing College in the

High School program, which also includes partnerships with several school districts in the

region.
