Martin Library Offers New Series for Teens
Program Combines Entrepreneurship and Yoga
YORK, PA – Martin Library in York is offering a new entrepreneurial series for teens this fall, Flow & Grow: Exploring the Entrepreneur in You. Taught by Fire Life Yoga Founder Ashana Taylor, the six-week series will introduce teens, aged 12- 18, to the foundational skills needed to become entrepreneurs. The workshops will be held on Monday afternoons from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on September 15, 22, 29 and October 6, 13 and 20 in the second floor Teens area at Martin library. Registration is not required.
“I’m excited about the program which allows teens to learn the basics of starting their own business while practicing the life skills taught by a successful businesswoman,” says Martin Library Director Mina Edmondson. “Ashana will combine her experience of writing business plans and starting her own small business with the tools students need to develop inner peace and calm amid the fast pace, busy external stimuli in their environment.” Each session will feature a combination of business instruction with an introduction to Yoga. Mats will be provided for teens to use during the sessions.
Taylor has an MBA in Management from Messiah University. As a former school teacher, she combines her background in education and alternative wellness programs. This unique blend allows her to merge her two passions: business management and Yoga teaching, enriching her approach to both fields.
"The goal of teen programming at Martin Library is to provide teens with opportunities to create, learn and grow while having fun,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “Many programs are designed to help teens identify possible career paths. Students get to explore options they may have otherwise not considered.”
