CPC adds two to Leadership team
Community Progress Council is pleased to add two new members to its Senior Leadership team, promoting Lindsay Veres to Assistant Chief Program Officer, and welcoming Melissa Morgan as its first Chief Operating Officer.
As Assistant Chief Program Officer, Veres assumes leadership responsibility for Community Progress Council’s early childhood education programs, Head Start, Early Head Start, and Pre-K programs, which serve low-income children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, and their families.
Veres has served in several roles with Community Progress Council, both within the early childhood education programs and in the broader organization. Most recently as the Director of Intake and Coaching, Veres was instrumental in creating the self-sufficiency program, and in developing Community Progress Council’s updated service delivery model.
“Lindsay’s leadership for these major efforts has given the organization the opportunity to be more focused on our mission, and in providing comprehensive, integrated services to our participants,” said Robin Rohrbaugh, President/CEO, Community Progress Council. “We are excited for her to bring her strategic mindset to this new role as we continue to integrate programming and empower families to interrupt generational poverty.”
Veres earned her Master of Social Work in Trauma-Informed Care from Widener University, and her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from PennWest Clarion. She is a licensed Social Worker accredited by ASWB and serves on the Board of Directors for Miss Bobbi’s Place. She also serves on the PA Dept of Health Health Equity Action Team, York Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, PA Universal Service Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Rotary Club of York.
Morgan’s hire marks an evolution for Community Progress Council as it creates the Chief Operating Office role. Morgan will focus on bringing greater coordination, long-term planning, and data-driven decision-making to several administrative tasks, positioning the organization for sustainability and future growth.
“Building greater structure and processes into our operations is crucial for Community Progress Council to advance to the next level and continue achieving our mission,” Rohrbaugh said. “Melissa’s track record in these areas makes her a perfect fit as we focus on effectiveness and efficiency.”
With nearly 20 years of experience in higher education, Morgan most recently served as Associate Vice President of Student Services at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, where she collaborated with university leaders to identify gaps in resources, make evidence-based recommendations and implement changes to enhance academic and non-academic operations.
She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Denison University. In addition to her work experience, Morgan loves to spend as much time outdoors as possible, including gardening, whitewater kayaking or rafting, biking, or hiking, as well as drawing, painting, and knitting in her studio.
