Babies are Blooming at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospitals for Mother’s Day

Spring is in the air and the beautiful babies at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospitals are blooming with joy as the hospitals celebrate Mother’s Day. The newborns are in colorful onesies with pale yellow floral hats, handmade by UPMC volunteers.

“At UPMC Magee, we celebrate every baby born,” said Kenneth J. Oken, M.D., chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology, UPMC Magee-Womens in Central Pa. “Babies are a reminder of love, life and hope . It's a joy to celebrate them and a privilege to be given the responsibility to serve our communities. We wish all mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day”

UPMC Magee-Womens provides the state’s largest network of top-rated maternity care. More than 6400 babies were delivered in UPMC Magee-Womens Hospitals in Central Pa. in 2023. Across the UPMC Magee-Womens hospitals with obstetric services, UPMC delivers close to 25,000 babies each year.

UPMC Harrisburg, UPMC Lititz, UPMC Memorial and UPMC Carlisle, all part of the UPMC Magee-Womens network, have been recognized as a 2023-2024 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) by U.S. News & World Report. In addition to the High Performing in Maternity Care recognition UPMC Carlisle also received a new recognition: Maternity Care Access Hospital. This designation recognizes hospitals that provide access to quality care for expectant parents – serving communities that would otherwise be considered maternity care deserts. UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital has also been recognized for its success in supporting Black maternal health by U.S. News & World Report.
