Arthur Hufnagel Library hosts ‘Unearth a Story Tour’
Glen Rock event celebrates the town’s history and America 250
GLEN ROCK, PA – The Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock is hosting a special event to celebrate the town’s history and America 250. Community members are invited to join the library for the “Unearth a Story: Walking Tour of Historic Glen Rock” from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30. The guided walking tour starts and ends at the library, located at 32 Main Street in Glen Rock.
According to Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock Manager Blake Beares, the library worked with the Glen Rock Historical Society and local businesses to create the tour. Participants will visit some of the historic buildings in town, including the Glen Rock Mill Inn. Some of the Glen Rock Carolers will be there, and the Northern Central Railway train will pass through town. There will also be a scavenger hunt for the kids with prizes awarded in the library at the end of the tour.
“When we think about America 250 and all of the communities that make up our country, this tour of Glen Rock is both timely and special,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “This is an incredible opportunity to discover the town, the buildings, and the people that composed the rich history of Glen Rock.”
The event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Individuals with questions about the tour can email Blake Beares at bbeares@yorklibraries.org or call the library at 717.235.1127.
