About Us

Believers Early Learning Center was born from a problem we could no longer ignore.

Before BELC opened, our founder, Pastor Matthew Castillo, helped operate a community learning center for school-aged children. Working directly with students, he saw how many were struggling with basic reading — some well beyond the grade level at which those skills should already have been established.

That was not a handful of struggling students. It was part of a much larger literacy crisis affecting children across York County and the nation.

It raised a question: what if we reached children before they began falling behind?

Research and experience both pointed to early intervention. Phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and oral language need to be introduced before kindergarten, not after. That realization became BELC.

We offer far more than supervision. BELC is a safe, nurturing, faith-based environment where children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Through intentional instruction in early literacy, STEM exploration, character development, and biblical principles, children gain the skills and confidence to enter kindergarten ready to learn.

Strengthening a child's future strengthens the family and the community. BELC exists to support working parents, serve local families, create meaningful employment, and raise a generation of confident, capable learners.
