Barley Snyder partner William J. Zee has been elected president of the board of directors at Lancaster County-based nonprofit Aaron’s Acres, taking the helm just as the organization is embarking upon a sizable construction project.

Zee has been on the board of the organization since 2007. He said one of the main things he will work on with Aaron’s Acres through the next few years is establishing its permanent home. Aaron’s Acres recently announced plans to participate in the development of a new cultural center at the Hoffer Farm, currently owned by Pleasant View Communities, a retirement village in the Manheim area. The two sides recently signed a letter of intent to work on this project starting in 2020.

Aaron’s Acres is excited to be part of the cultural center, which will include the organization’s programs and administrative offices. The group, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2018, provides year round recreational programs for children and young adults with disabilities.

“This is a very exciting time to be involved with Aaron’s Acres,” Zee said. “It has always been our goal to establish a campus that will enable us to continue to serve individuals with a wide variety of abilities and needs in an inclusive setting. The new facility is an important next step in furthering our mission, but it’s going to take cooperation from the entire community to bring this project to fruition. We’ve always counted on the generosity of the people and businesses of Lancaster County, and we’re counting on them more now than ever.”

Zee is the chair of the Barley Snyder Education Practice Group. In addition to his charitable work with Aaron’s Acres, he is a member of the board of directors at the Lancaster Education Foundation, Leadership Lancaster and Share of Lancaster Inc.
