WellSpan Health today announced the promotion of Kimberly Brister to the position of Senior Director of Talent Acquisition, Diversity and Inclusion – an expanded role that includes leadership of the regional health system’s continuing efforts to enhance diversity and create a more inclusive environment.

The appointment is the latest step in WellSpan’s long-range strategy to build an engaged, diverse and inclusive workforce of the best and brightest from all walks of life, according to Bob Batory, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, WellSpan Health.

“As the leading provider of comprehensive health care services in central Pennsylvania, we feel a deep sense of responsibility to ensure our team members understand and can provide quality, culturally appropriate care to an increasingly diverse community,” Batory said. “Providing exceptional care for all begins with an organization that seeks out, understands and respects the differences – both within our workforce and within our community.”

He noted that the decision to dedicate a leadership position to diversity and inclusion is consistent with WellSpan’s core values, its mission and its commitment to fostering a culture where individuals feel respected, are treated fairly and have an opportunity to excel in their chosen careers.

Brister, of York, previously served as director of talent acquisition for WellSpan Health.

“I’m excited to expand our efforts to recruit and retain a diverse workforce,” Brister said. “It’s equally important to continue our work fostering environments of inclusion and better understanding those we work with and care for in our communities. We gain strength when our diverse workforce is empowered to serve our diverse community.”

Brister has a Master of Business Administration in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix. She is actively involved in numerous community organizations, including the York College Community Opportunity Scholarship Program (YCCOSP) of York College of Pennsylvania; the York Jewish Community Center, where she serves on the board; the Confronting Racism Coalition and Big Brothers Big Sisters of York & Adams Counties, where she previously served as board president.
