September 03, 2019
York County Libraries (YCL) have announced the Fall dates for the Community Conversations series.  Led by YCL President Robert F. Lambert, the event provides a forum for community members to share what they need from their libraries. In turn, Lambert updates residents about the projects and strategic initiatives that York County Libraries are implementing to address community needs.
At the center of the Community Conversations, Lambert is seeking answers from attendees to the following questions: “What do you love about your library?”, “What would 100% success look like for your library?”, “What would it take to get your library there?”, and “How can York County Libraries walk alongside you in your journey in life and learning?”  A report summarizing what is learned will be shared with the public online at the end of the year.  Information gleaned through past public discussions led by Lambert have influenced library strategic plans.
The library Community Conversations are scheduled on the following dates and times:
Tuesday, September 24, 7:00 p.m.  Guthrie Memorial Library, Hanover
Wednesday, September 25, 7:00 p.m. Kaltreider-Benfer Library, Red Lion
Tuesday, November 19, 7:00 p.m.  Dover Area Community Library, Dover
Thursday, November 21, 7:00 p.m.  Paul Smith Library of Southern York County, Shrewsbury
Appointed by Governor Tom Wolf, Lambert is a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Library Development. One of the key priorities of the council is workforce development.  Lambert took over the helm as YCL President in 2016 with more than 25 years of experience.  He holds an MPA Degree in Public Administration from Pennsylvania State University, an MLS Degree in Library and Information Service from University of Pittsburgh, and a BA Degree in Speech Communication from York College of Pennsylvania.
The meetings are open to the public and free to attend.  Questions may be directed to individual libraries or to YCL staff at 717-849-6969.  For directions and more information, go to yorklibraries.org.
