Leadership York recently recognized educators who completed this year’s Leadership for Diverse Schools program. The Leadership for Diverse Schools class of 2019 included 32 teachers and administrators from 10 school districts. They worked together from September through May, exploring personal bias and learning to interact more effectively with diverse populations of students, parents, and colleagues. The program, presented in partnership with the York Jewish Community Center, fosters understanding, acceptance, and tolerance so the educators can be leaders in helping to build culturally proficient communities within their districts.
Leadership York’s mission is to train and support individuals who have the desire to serve the York community in leadership positions. The organization was founded in 1978 and boasts over 3,800 graduates from its six programs. Those graduates provide leadership to over 250 nonprofit organizations and serve thousands of constituents in state and local government. Leadership York is the primary resource for developing inspired leadership for our changing community.
We are now accepting applications for the Leadership for Diverse Schools Class of 2020! This professional development opportunity is for York County teachers, staff, administrators, and board members. In an everchanging and diverse world, the Leadership for Diverse Schools (LDS) program equips participants with the tools to understand and interact more effectively with diverse populations of students, parents and colleagues. For more information, visit leadershipyork.org.
