Leadership York Names Delma Rivera-Lytle Alumnus of The Year
Each year, Leadership York recognizes one outstanding alumnus for their contributions to the greater good in our community. This year’s Outstanding Alumnus of the Year is Delma Rivera-Lytle. The Outstanding Alumnus of the Year selection committee is comprised of past recipients of Leadership York’s Alumnus of the Year award and Leadership York staff.
Delma is a graduate of Central York High School and Gettysburg College. She has been the Diversity Education Specialist at Central York School District for the past 13 years, where she coordinates an annual district wide Diversity Celebration.
Delma is a 1982 graduate of the Leadership Training Program and the 2009 Leadership for Diverse Schools (LDS) program. She has also assisted with LDS sessions on Latino culture.
Delma is a member of First Presbyterian Church of York and has been married to Charles Lytle for 30 years. Their daughter, Maria, recently completed her masters program at George Fox University in Oregon. She enjoys traveling, photography, swimming, gardening. Delma has continued advocacy work begun by her parents Dr. Edwin and Delma Rivera – founders of the Spanish American Center of York.
Delma’s community involvement includes, but is not limited to, serving on the Board of Directors for the York County History Center, the YMCA of York, Latinos Unidos of York; as well as serving on the Racial Justice Committee at the YWCA of York and the Diversity Advisory Council of the York Jewish Community Center.
Leadership York’s mission is to train, connect and inspire individuals to serve the York community in leadership positions. The organization was founded in 1978 and boasts over 3,800 graduates from its six programs. Those graduates provide leadership to over 250 nonprofit organizations and serve thousands of constituents in state and local government.
