Glatfelter Memorial Library wants area residents to “Report to Platform 9 ¾” at the library train station on Saturday, March 28 to listen to “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”  The library is hosting its fourth annual Read-a-Thon from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. featuring 36 local readers.  The family-friendly event is free to attend and will include a trivia contest, Sorting Hat, and Quidditch Game.  In addition, there will be Hogwarts classes, Potions 101, wands, and more.

"I think the Harry Potter books series continues to appeal to such a diverse group, that is it a great book to bring folks together to celebrate reading. I think Potter-heads will be delighted to mingle with others that are truly fascinated with the world that J.K. Rowling created,” says Glatfelter Memorial Library Manager Ellen Helfrick. According to Helfrick, each of the 36 community readers are striving to raise $100 in pledges before the event.  That day, Century 21 Realtor Elle Hale will match donations received in the donation bin, dollar for dollar, up to $250.  “Our Friends of Glatfelter Memorial Library hold this important fundraiser annually because we count on our community support,” says Helfrick.  “And this year, combining a beloved book with such fun engagement is a win-win!” Anyone with questions about the Read-A-Thon is encouraged to call the library at (717) 225-3220.

Glatfelter Memorial Library is located at 101 Glenview Road in Spring Grove and is a branch of York County Libraries.  It actively serves the community with educational programming, resources, and technology access.  The library’s popular read-to-the-dogs program “Library Tales for Tails” has been featured nationally in Woman’s Day Magazine.   To learn more about York County Libraries’ programs, services, and resources, go to yorklibraries.org.
