June 22, 2020
The Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA will offer a series of free STEAM workshops as part of the York County Libraries “Imagine Your Story” SummerQuest program.  Girls entering kindergarten through twelfth grade are invited to participate in the Girls Go STEAM Summer Spectacular where they will explore areas like coding, engineering, creative thinking, and teamwork. A Girl Scout membership and STEAM patch will be provided to all registered attendees.
The free programs will be held securely on Zoom.  Interested individuals should register for the week they want to attend via the events calendar at yorklibraries.org.  The four-day workshops will be offered during the following weeks: June 16 – 19, June 22 – 25, July 13 – 17, July 22 – 25, and July 27 – 30.  “We are delighted to work with the Girls Scouts in the Heart of PA to provide this STEAM learning opportunity for our SummerQuest participants,” says York County Youth Services Director Paula Gilbert.   “Their programs were a huge hit at our libraries last year and we expect that this virtual workshop will be just as popular.”
According to Gilbert, a variety of fun and educational online programs are planned this summer for youth from birth to age 18.  Thanks to the generous support of The Water Company and The Rite Aid Foundation, with additional support by WellSpan Health, and The GIANT Company, the SummerQuest program is provided free of cost to participants.
York County Libraries include 13 libraries that provide the latest in print and electronic information, best sellers, Wi-Fi, story times, book discussions and more.  Their librarians are passionate advocates for lifelong learning, providing opportunities and resources for all ages.   For more information and to register for SummerQuest, interested individuals should go to summerquest.yorklibraries.org.
