Fundraiser Adds Books to the Shelves of Local Library

HELLAM, PA – A fundraiser held at East York’s Kingston Square UPS store helped add new books to the shelves at Kreutz Creek Library in Hellam. During the winter months, customers gave donations as part of the Toys for Tots literacy campaign run in conjunction with Scholastic. A total of $1,400 was raised and divided between three beneficiaries, with the library being one. Kingston Square UPS Store Manager Kiersten Levens and Kingston Square UPS Store Co-owner Joe Renda recently delivered books to Kreutz Creek Library Manager Jennifer Johnson and York County Libraries Board Member Lynda Randall.

“We were delighted to receive this generous donation of new Scholastic books,” says Johnson. “The books were delivered just in time for SummerQuest, our annual program which encourages children to read and stay active during the summer months.” According to Johnson, the library is in the process of expanding its collection now that it is in its new 8,800 square foot facility. It recently moved from the 1,200 square foot FEMA trailer that served as the community’s library for 42 years.

Kreutz Creek Library is located at 66 Walnut Springs Road in Hellam and is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., and is closed on Sundays. Masks are optional. Community members with questions should phone the library at (717) 252-4080.
