‘My Future Way in PA’ fair to Showcase In-Demand Jobs to Hundreds of Middle and High School Students in April

The Partnership for Career Development (PCD), a college and career readiness arm of South Central PA Works (SCPa Works), is holding the first-ever My Future Way in PA Career Experience Fair at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex on April 7 and 8. The two-day interactive event will showcase businesses and high-priority occupations to hundreds of middle and high school students who will be attending from school districts throughout the region.

Businesses can still register to exhibit at the event to interact with students and educate them about career opportunities in their organization and industry. Interested businesses can learn more and register by downloading an Exhibitor Packet or emailing the Partnership for Career Development at connect@crpcd.org.

“A career fair of this scale for middle and high school students is a show of incredible collaboration among area school districts and businesses in our region,” said Partnership for Career Development Executive Director Lynda Morris. “The event also is creating valuable time and cost efficiencies for participating organizations.”

Students from school districts in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lebanon, Perry and York counties were invited to attend the career fair. The event is not open to the public.

“The goal is to help today’s students learn about tomorrow’s in-demand careers by directly interacting with businesses,” Morris said. “We welcome additional organizations to join us in educating students about career opportunities. My Future Way in PA Career Experience Fair is the time and place to meet the workforce of 2020-2030 and beyond.”

The first report from Governor Tom Wolf’s Executive Order to establish the Keystone Economic Development and Workforce Command Center includes a training recommendation to “Highlight Pennsylvania’s Career Ready PA initiative with business, education and workforce stakeholders.” The My Future Way in PA Career Experience Fair was developed with the Future Ready PA Index features for educators in mind, along with future workforce needs.

This event is funded by grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and funding from the Manufacturing Next Generation Sector Strategy Partnership.
