Fixed Route Extra Board/Fill In Driver Wage….
$19.90/hour after training period at $15.92/hour.

Fixed Route Driver….This position drives the large, red, fixed route public transit buses.  Positions are bid based.  Therefore, the newly hired employee starts as an Extra Board/Fill In driver and as builds seniority, then can bid into a Regular Full-Time Fixed Route.   An Extra Board/Fill In Driver will drive any of the fixed routes by covering open work with number of hours/week varying based upon need.  Runs operate 7 days a week, therefore flexible availability is a must.  There is a high likelihood evening and weekend work among the week day, day time hours. 
-CDL Class A or B license, and
-with Passenger endorsement, and
-have Air Brake Restriction lifted.

The driver is responsible for operating a van/bus to transport passengers in a safe and courteous manner according to published routes and timetables. The driver is responsible for driving defensively and reacting to emergency situations to ensure the safety of the passengers and the safety of the general public. Work includes completion of vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate records, assisting passengers as required including wheelchair securements, receiving and accounting for fares, radio communications, following emergency procedures, and other activities as assigned by the Operations Manager. The driver is responsible for meeting all attendance requirements according to bid, CBA, policy, and safety emergency response situations.  CPTA is the County Emergency responder.
