Tekgard is seeking a fulltime Mechanical Assembler II to build HVAC units. support for assembling sheet metal cabinet, installing components such as coils, compressors, motors, blowers, and fans, into the ECU. The position requires an individual to braze components and sub-assemblies using fixtures, performs leak checks on ECU system, properly store brazing gases on-line for a wide variety of units. The Mechanical Assembler should take direction from supervisors, work cooperatively with co-workers, and demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to quality of work.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be detailed oriented and able to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules. Experience in mechanical assembly of refrigeration components preferred. Requires 1 year related experience with brazing and mechanical assembly work along with a high school diploma or GED. Requires a valid driver’s license and Forklift Certification and EPA Section 608 Certificate for level 1 and 2. The standard work schedule is 6:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assemble sheet metal cabinets for ECU’s.
  • Installs components such as compressors, motors, blowers, fans, coils, electric heat, thermocouple wires, corner braces and other brackets into the ECU.
  • Applies tube foam as necessary.
  • Applies caulk and Sikaflex as necessary.
  • Has developed BOM reading skills.
  • Produces red marked BOM and drawing feedback.
  • Maintain a high level of 5’s workplace organization.
  • Complete traveler paperwork.
  • Work with Quality Manager and Engineering to develop work instructions and procedures.
  • Meet customer’s product quality requirements. Report any product quality issues.
  • Responsible for adherence to Tekgard Quality Manual, safety and corporate policies, Standards of Conduct, rules and procedures.
  • Offer new ideas and methods to achieve Continual Improvement.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform any related functions as required
Mechanical Assembler Level 2 has also obtained the following skill set listed below:
Skill Set – Electrical Assembler:
  • Follows established work instructions and drawings.
  • Maintains complete responsibly for wiring of ECU on line.
  • Installs and wires electrical enclosures into ECU.
  • Assembles and installs auxiliary heat into ECU.
  • Assembles and wires electric heat.
  • Assembles and wires evaporator motor.
  • IPC 620 Certification
