Job purpose                                                                                                                                                                   

We’re currently looking for a Nonclinical Drug Discovery Scientist to help with designing, implementing, interpreting, investigating and reporting data that elucidates the pharmacologic/toxicologic profile of drug candidates. This individual will work collaboratively with internal and external cross-functional subteams, collaborators and consultants to contribute to integrated development pathways including regulatory submissions throughout the drug development cycle. Our ideal candidate has a strong interest or background in pharmacology/toxicology, as well as a good understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and will provide broad-based support to align nonclinical efforts with the company’s opportunistic philosophy of drug development. The candidate will interact with scientists across the company in order to provide a balanced assessment as to the risk/benefit profile associated with a drug candidate’s advancement.

Duties and responsibilities                                                                                                                                  

  • Contribute to and implement an overall drug development strategy to support nonclinical and clinical pharmacology development during all stages of drug development
  • Design, implement, report and interpret nonclinical study data of small molecule, biologic or other novel drug candidate constructs
  • Submits quarterly project reviews and proposals

  • Design, plan and execute multi-step organic synthesis and purification of high-quality target molecules for biological screening.
  • Develops, qualifies and/or validates robust bioanalytical methods (cell-based and/or ligand binding assays) to support the Company pipeline.
  • Reviews and participates in writing of departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Serves as the Responsible Scientist for the bioanalytical portion of non-regulated as well
as GLP and GCP studies.
  • Mentors and/or trains new and less-experienced employees and develops training materials and schedules.
  • Provides scientific and technical input to the study team and other departments.

Desired Qualifications                                                                                                                                            

  • Strong hands on skills with Cell-Based and/or Ligand Binding Assays (such as ELISA, MSD-ECL, ELISPOT etc.) development and validation.
  • Strong technical expertise in areas such as Pharmacokinetics Assays, Cell-based Assays, Immunogenicity Assays, Biomarkers Assays and the respective bioanalytical technologies.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and able to apply the basic statistic tools.
  • Good computer skills and working knowledge of SoftMax or other data analysis software;MS word, Excel, Power Point are required.
  • Experience with qPCR is a plus.
  • Previous experience supervising laboratory personnel.
  • Strong technical competency, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Prior experience working in regulated environment and knowledge of GxP as they apply to laboratory practices
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Physical requirements                                                                                                                                             

Able to lift at least 50lbs or more. Read and write English on an advanced or proficient level. Able to work on projects independently.

Direct reports                                                                                                                                                               

This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Architecture & Infrastructure.

Expected Compensation                                                                                                                                         

$25 per hour
