Job title Biomanufacturing Engineer
Reports to Biotechnology Project Manager
 

Job purpose                                                                                                                                                                   

 
We’re currently looking for a Biomanufacturing engineer to support the design, prototyping, and testing of different DNA analysis and testing systems. You will also work closely with our diverse team of biologists, engineers, and computer scientists to advance the state of the art in high-throughput protein characterization and biodiscovery. The ideal candidate has a desire to learn and contribute in many technical areas.
 

Duties and responsibilities                                                                                                                                  

 
  • Perform high-throughput molecular biology experiments
  • Prepare and sequence NGS libraries
  • Develop new and improved workflows by expanding equipment capabilities
  • Investigate new high-throughput molecular biology techniques
  • Maintain screening capacity and high-quality data acquisition

  • Maintain focus on improving how experiments are executed and implement software solutions and tools to increase the capabilities of the platform, measure and maintain platform robustness, and accelerate protocol creation and assay on-boarding.
 
 

Desired Qualifications                                                                                                                                            

 
  • Education – GED at the least, some college or BS preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge – Any type of research experience, management experience, biotechnology sector background (regulatory or production)
  • Skills – Leadership, attention to detail, project management, flexible, ability to learn and understand industry specific jargon.
  • Personal characteristics – Honest, innovative, committed to sustainability, dedicated.
  • Professional Certification – At least 60 college credits obtained or an associate’s degree/equivalent. Specifically, relevant coursework related to Engineering or Computer science.
  • Experience – past experience in a laboratory, performing either chemical or biological experiments. Past experience with research. Past experience with statistics or data analysis. Previous project intern experience preferred.
  • Ability to break high level challenges into actionable tasks and execute on those tasks
  • Experience with at least one major programming language, e.g. Python, Java
  • Willingness to travel to partner sites
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to pick things up quickly and a desire to learn
 
 

Physical requirements                                                                                                                                             

 
Able to lift at least 50lbs or more. Read and write English on an advanced or proficient level. Able to work on projects independently.
 

Direct reports                                                                                                                                                               

 
This position reports directly to the Biotechnology Project Manager.
 

Expected Compensation                                                                                                                                         

 
$16 per hour
