Job Description

The Grants Program Associate is a member of the Community Investment Department and supports all processes related to the Foundation’s unrestricted grant making, as well as compiling and analyzing data to help maximize and promote community impact.  We are seeking a motivated, community-minded and talented individual for this fast-moving and rewarding work.  Candidates must have excellent organizational and communications skills and enjoy suggesting and implementing systems improvements. 
The position requires positive interactions with grantees, external partners and staff and a professional commitment to the importance of a cohesive team and collaborative working environment. 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Use database to support all unrestricted grant making processes, produce reports, and analyze grant-giving patterns over time to maximize impact, identify synergies, and evaluate results.
  • Coordinate strategic grantmaking programs for special interest funds including identifying priorities and researching best practices in the field.
  • Meet with experts in the field to gain an understanding of opportunities for high-impact projects to support.
  • Meet with potential grant applicants with diverse experience to educate them about the grant application process, learn about their programs and proposals and coach them in best practices for successful grants.
  • Provide staff support to volunteer advisory committees, including preparation of meeting materials, preparing reports, and presenting recommendations.
  • Assist in the development of grant stories, website updates, and social media communications that promote the impact of the Foundation’s grantmaking.
  • Represent the Community Foundation at community functions as necessary.
  • Work as a member of the team to develop plans and policies for achieving greater community impact, and assist in administration of grants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Reports to:  Vice President of Community Investment
Functional skills include:  Demonstrates initiative, excellent systems and communication skills (written, verbal, and social media); attention to detail and follow-through; data analysis and problem-solving skills; listening ability; strategic thinking and planning, organizing and prioritizing work skills; working with volunteers; strong interpersonal skills; flexibility and openness to a changing environment; teamwork, honesty, confidentiality, ethics, dependability and effective work habits.
Technical skills include:   Knowledge and experience in computer technology and system/software applications including Microsoft products; knowledge of database management systems and PowerPoint.  Fluency in multiple social media platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience, preferably with experience in nonprofits, including fund development, program development, grant writing and/or human services.  Community, private or public foundation experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the York County community is preferred.
  • Standard office schedule with commitment to participate in Community Foundation and community events on occasional evenings, early mornings or Saturdays.
  • Pennsylvania driver’s license and willingness to travel within all communities of south-central Pennsylvania.
