Job Description

Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Clinical Services, the Child Therapist is responsible for assessing clients and developing therapeutic relationships (providing counseling/talk therapy). The Child Therapist is responsible for providing education to clients, their caregivers and to the care team. The Child Therapist is responsible for planning, organizing and facilitating groups and individual sessions with clients and caregivers.

Essential Functions

  1. Provides full-cycle, individual, child-centered therapy including the assessment of the client’s mental/behavioral health.
  2. Completes new client intakes assuring that releases, waivers, and permissions are signed by appropriate person(s) or caregivers.
  3. Develops individual patient goals and care plans with the patient and his/her caregiver.
  4. Provide ongoing assessment and therapy using various techniques. Reviews and adapts the care plan with the patient and caregiver to assure that the patient is progressing to wellness. Communicates with caregiver regarding patient’s progress and suggests ways the caregiver can support the patient.
  5. Maintains current case records and documentation as required by licensing, regulatory, and/or funding sources. Includes assessment, goals, progress notes, personal information, releases and reports from other organizations.
  6. Participates in Agency CQI program by conducting peer reviews/audits of medical records; participates in clinical supervision with primary and secondary clinical supervisors. Prepares and maintains clinical supervision records to meet credentialing and licensure requirements.
  7. Maintains client confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA and the Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.
