Job Description
SUMMARY Repairs and maintains the mobile plant equipment (gas, diesel, and propane, electric) and assists plant maintenance technicians as needed by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
Diagnoses and repairs all mobile equipment (gas, diesel, propane and electric) including company owned trailers.
Major repairs including Engine & Transmission replacement. Must be able to troubleshoot Mechanical & Electrical problems, perform brake work, tune-ups, and forklift mast repairs. Knowledge of Propane Fuel Systems, and Hydraulics preferred, but not necessary.   
Assists plant maintenance technicians as directed.
Responds to service calls from all departments involving breakdowns to diagnose and repair equipment as required.  Responsible for prioritizing repairs with input and direction from Management.
Performs scheduled preventive maintenance (P.M.) on all company owned mobile equipment and trailers.
Completes all paperwork on a timely basis, including daily work sheets and assigned work orders.
Follows Company rules, regulations and policies regarding work and safety practices.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area including general housekeeping of the work area upon completion of a repair.  Assists with general housekeeping of the Maintenance area.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:  To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience: A high School Diploma or GED. An Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is preferred; and two or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience should include engine maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel and propane fueled equipment.
Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as Electrical and Hydraulic Schematics (preferred but not necessary), safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to use measuring devices, testing equipment, Micrometers, Digital Multi-Meters, etc.
Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
TOOLS: Must supply your own basic hand tools.
