Job title Human Resources Intern
Reports to Executive Director of Business & Technology Transfer
 

Job purpose                                                                                                                                                                   

 
We’re currently looking for an HR intern to assist with talent management and engagement efforts facilitating the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process of new employees. This position also involves handling of general clerical and admin duties such as ensuring stringent employment laws and compliance regulations are met, maintenance of employee files, and database and record keeping tasks.
 

Duties and responsibilities                                                                                                                                  

 
  • Responsible for conducting recruiting and hiring tasks such as posting job openings, reviewing resumes of potential candidates, and conducting interviews
  • Coordinate with other departments such as Fiance during new employee orientation and ensure paperwork is filled out properly
  • Handling payroll issues related to the onboarding and termination of employees

  • Managing employee benefit issues such as plan renewal and open enrollment, troubleshooting employee benefits issues, and any other customer service related benefits issues
  • Maintenance of all employee records and information
  • Comply with employment policies and regulations
 

Desired Qualifications                                                                                                                                            

 
  • Education – GED at the least, some college or BS preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge – basic computer and data entry skills, prior experience using Microsoft Office applications, general office skills such as filing, organizing, scheduling, and tracking.
  • Skills – Adept ability to succinctly organize and prioritize a wide array of competing demands, able to communicate effectively, must be able to work well in a team setting with others, must possess great telephone etiquette and have the ability to tactfully and warmly deal with candidates and fellow employees
  • Prior experience working in an office setting, preferably in the Human Resources capacity
  • Actively working towards some degree of education (i.e. HS Diploma, Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree)
  • Strong work ethic
  • Personal characteristics – Honest, passionate, dedicated, driven, innovative, committed to teamwork, trustworthy
  • Professional Certification – At least 60 college credits obtained or an associate’s degree/equivalent. Specifically, relevant coursework related to human resources management
 
 

Physical requirements                                                                                                                                             

 
Able to lift at least 50lbs or more. Read and write English on an advanced or proficient level. Able to work on projects independently.
 

Direct reports                                                                                                                                                               

 
This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Business & Technology Transfer.
 

Expected Compensation                                                                                                                                         

 
$15 per hour
