Position Overview:
The Foundation for the West York Area School District is seeking a Part-Time Executive Director to serve as the point of contact for all Foundation programs, with the major emphasis on fundraising activities. He or she will collaborate with the Foundation Board, School District Officers and other volunteers to meet the annual budgetary and program goals of the Foundation as well as serve as the Foundations’ representative, promoting the Foundation’s mission within the community and School District.
Essential Job Functions:
Fundraising (50%)
  • Solicit individual, corporate and foundation prospects to maximize program and event sponsorships
  • Promote the Foundation to PA based companies that participate in the Commonwealth’s EITC Program
  • Submit grant requests and necessary grant reports to private foundations or other possible donors
 
Public Relations (20%)
  • Work closely with the Foundation Board and the Coordinator of School and Community Communications of The West York Area School District to develop and distribute communications (brochures, marketing materials, press releases, website and social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)) so as to educate the community about the mission of the organization as well as particular special events and services.
  • Make presentations around the community to District Staff, PTO’s, businesses, rotary clubs, etc. to create awareness of the Foundation’s existence and to obtain general, legacy &/or EITC donations.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with community organizations for partnership opportunities.
 
Administration (20%)
  • Maintain software or other systems to support all development projects and program operations including any Foundation fundraising databases
  • Review financial reports and monthly financial statements to assist in developing an annual budget and to track performance
  • Assist in the practical preparations of fund raising events
  • Prepare agendas & back-up materials for monthly Board meetings
  • Prepare an Annual Report
 
Board Relations (10%)
  • Recruit community members & District staff to serve on the Foundation’s Board
  • Work with Board members to develop, monitor and communicate the organization’s annual and long-term plans in reaching the Foundation’s goals
  • Prepare a monthly written report of all work activities for each board meeting
  • Attend all Board meetings and prepare other reports as directed or needed
 
 
 
 
 
Qualifications
  • High energy level, persistence, and self-motivation
  • Organized and detailed oriented
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Associates Degree desired, preferably in Nonprofit Development, Sales and/or Marketing
  • Fundraising experience preferred but not required
  • Experience in developing communications plans
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Google Docs
  • Other similar or relevant experience will be considered
 
Evaluation:
  • Executive Director will be evaluated annually based upon the performance targets identified above.
 
Job Type: Part-time, Contractual
Compensation:
 
Flat monthly stipend TBD plus performance incentives
