Description
Steam Into History’s own Barry Larkin will talk about Timothy O’Sullivan, A Civil War Photographer; All Work, No Credit! Timothy O’Sullivan was a photographer during the American Civil War. The images he took are very compelling and tell of the triumphs and tragedies of the great conflict.
Most people today, know of Matthew Brady and possibly Alexander Gardner as Civil War Photographers, but Timothy O’Sullivan has been mostly unheralded. The talk will examine O’Sullivan’s work, his life before and after the war, as well as how he is remembered. Barry is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. A Registered Professional Engineer, he retired in 2016 after a 45 year career in the Box Machinery business. A lifelong Civil War Buff, he is a charter member of the Center for Civil War Photography. Barry also serves on the Board of Directors for Baltimore’s Irish Railroad Workers Museum and is a Train Conductor for Steam into History.
