Description
The City of Lancaster is preparing for its first Comprehensive Plan in twenty-seven years, which means the residents are long overdue for renewing their vision for development and growth. Doing so is a matter of equity, as the City has over 40% poverty in some census tracts and is culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse.
The City of Lancaster's Chief Planner Douglas Smith will discuss the City's efforts to put equity at the center of their planning efforts, which won them competitive funding from the Funders' Network program Partners for Places and the Urban Sustainability Director's Network. In particular, he will highlight the following efforts: creating a diverse resident-led committee, providing language access services, eliminating barriers to participation, building capacity, and virtual engagement, among other things.
Presenter: Douglas Smith, Chief Planner, City of Lancaster
