Description
This one-day workshop will lead participants to a thorough understanding of the transgender community, and how to build trust with your transgender patients. Participants will hear best practice terminology and inclusive language, describe risk and protective factors, learn about the increased risks of domestic violence and community intervention resources, recognize cisheterosexism, and identify steps to make your organization and its practices more welcoming and inclusive.
The workshop is approved for eight hours of training for the following:
- Continuing Nursing Education (RN). Penn State College of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited provider by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Presenters, organizers, and content specialists have indicated no conflict of interest. Participants with a valid RN license who attend the entire session will be awarded 8 contact hours of continuing nursing education; partial contact hours are not awarded.
- LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)
- Nursing Home Administrators. PA Board approval number NHAPR102320
- Personal Care Home Administrators and Assisted Living Administrators
- Act 48 Requirements. Penn State is a Pennsylvania Department of Education Act 48 approved provider.
- Social Workers. Approved by Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors
