The inspiration for the History Center's longest running fundraiser began with the discovery of oyster shells during an archeological dig behind the Golden Plough Tavern in the 1960's. Now\, 43 years later\, what was formerly called The Oyster Festival was renamed last year as "History on the Half Shell\, An Arts and Food Experience"\, a day-long celebration of food\, music\, and local history. We are looking forward to another great event\, coming up on Sunday\, October 15\, 2017 from 11 am 4 pm at the Agricultural & Industrial Museum\, 217 West Princess Street\, York PA ---- plenty of free parking is available ! Whats up this year at History on the Half Shell ? Oysters ! (of course) As always\, the season's finest oysters will be hand picked and shucked by the skillful hands of Henry's Seafood . Fun fact: Festival revelers savored thousands of oysters last year ---- raw\, stewed and fried ! Other Food ! This year's event will also feature these delectable foods: Crab Cakes Steamed Shrimp BBQ sandwiches Chicken Corn Soup Mac & Cheese And hot dogs for the little ones ! Drinks ! As every festival goer knows\, the beverages flow freely\, the friendly crews will be glad to pour you something\, be it a local wine\, a craft beer or maybe a soda or mulled local cider --- the choice is yours ! Desserts ! Homemade treats from the finest kitchens in York will be presented by the Friends of the History Center and will include a wide selection of cakes\, cookies\, pies and more !
